I was thinking of using it. If they do use human collagen, does anyone know any good alternatives?Does St. Ives collagen elastin facial moisturizer use animal or human collagen?
Either seems gross to me. Animal collagen isnt going to do any good for a humans skin (and its an animal byproduct EWW) but if its human collagen thats just wierd trying to think of where it might come from. Most likely its sort of manmade chemical like the rest of the ingrediants. Again, gross. Besides, most products out there claiming to do something, dont.
Try sticking to natural products. Olive oil and cocoa butter are both fantastic alternatives, along with Vitamin E and a balanced diet!Does St. Ives collagen elastin facial moisturizer use animal or human collagen?
Eitheir doesn't matter, because the collagen can't get to where it's needed anyways, animal or human. Collagen is a very large molecule and it can't pass the epithelial cells of your skin to the extracellular matrix below where it''s needed. Beauty products bank on you not knowing that the collagen in their products is unuseable in their product. Can you rub a banana on your belly and digest it? No. That's how I think about it. If you want your skin to be healthy keep it hydrated and wear sunblock. As for animal or human, where would they get human collagen? Who's donating their bodies to St. Ives? It's probably from leftover cow parts from the beef industry...Wikipedia cites horses.
';Recently an alternative to animal-derived collagen has become available. Although expensive, this human collagen, derived from donor cadavers, placentas and aborted fetuses, may minimize the possibility of immune reactions.'; That's only for high end medical use. So your you got 'my little pony' in your St. Ives.
';Although it cannot be absorbed through the skin, collagen is now being used as a main ingredient for some cosmetic makeup'; Looks like Wiki is on the up and up too.
There you go. It's animal collagen and as a side bar, it's useless.
